If I lost my collection, I would walk away from the collection AND the hobby and never look back. I got hooked on cards in my teens and chased them well into my 40s. But times change and interest shift. I would then have more time and money to pursue my other interest: traveling.
With 20+ years collecting, this is the most comprehensive single player collection in the world! Beckett lists 4000+ cards - I'm at 95% completion!
