A Rein"hard" to Find Piece for my Museum! Don't miss this Divis :)
Hello everyone and welcome back to the Bruce C. Goaltending Museum project. Today's addition is one I've always wanted, regardless of his actual longevity in the NHL. He's always been one of the goalies I've looked for on the ice in his NHL days both due to his awesome name, and due to his extremely unusual goaltending style that stymied shooters in his first three seasons of NHL play. His name, Reinhard Divis. Drafted by St. Louis, 216th overall back in 2000, his prospects of making the league were relatively low considering that no Austrian player had ever made the show before. However, on April 7, 2002, Divis made history by becoming that first ever Austrian player to appear in the NHL. On that note, I now own memorabilia from the first Austrian, first Japanese, and first Hungarian player to ever appear in the NHL. Anyways, Divis appeared in that lone game in 2001-02, and a further two in 2002-03, before securing a more semi-permanent back-up position in 2003-04 when he appeared in a career high 13 games, recording a 4-4-2 record. Post lock-out, his style of play was counter to the faster NHL that had emerged and it showed with an 0-5-1 record in 12 games to go with a 4.67 GAA, and a 0.840% save average. In his short but interesting NHL career, Divis appeared in 28 games, recording a 6-9-2-1 record with a 3.32GAA, and a 0.880% save average. On top of that, he made a lone playoff appearance in the 2003-04 season, stopping all 8 shots he faced in relief of Chris Osgood.

The piece you are looking at today was used by Divis in his final NHL season, 2005-06. It has extensive wear as it was worn in NHL action on five occasions, to go along with several back-up only appearances. The full list of appearances Divis made while wearing this sweater are below:

1) October 5, 2005 played 27 minutes in relief of Patrick Lalime. Stopped 12 of 13 in a 5-1 loss to Detroit.

2) October 28, 2005, stopped 33 of 39 in a 6-4 loss to Anaheim.

3) October 29, 2005, stopped 25 of 30 in a 5-2 loss to Los Angeles.

4) November 10, 2005 (reverse jersey night), replaced Patrick Lalime for 15 minutes, stopped 2 of 2 shots in a 4-2 loss to Chicago.

5) December 21, 2005, replaced Jason Bacashihua, and stopped 20 of 23 shots in a 6-3 loss to Anaheim.
