Let me throw a small curve into your Hostess collecting, 1976 has several versions, see previous thread here: http://www.beckett.com/forums/thread-1532473.html

Do you have any info on which cards were printed on which products?

Sorry for the late reply here . . . not really, only what I've read over the years or what I gained from experience. If I ever get enough time, I'll try to put down what I can.

RE: 1970s Hostess Cards
Coimbre, I take it you have an extensive knowledge of the Hostess cards. I also assume you may have a large collection as well.
I am waiting on a 137 card lot of 1979 with stars which should put me in striking distance of completing that set. Given I have the 76 and 77 set complete and am within striking distance of the 75 and 78, do you have cards to trade?

Also, I am interested in knowing about what variations there are.
Are there brown backs and black backs from certain years?
Are King Dons different than the general Hostess cards like Twinkies was?
Which years had Twinkie sets which are actually separate from the Hostess sets?

RE: 1970s Hostess Cards
The few remaining doubles I have are posted for sale on COMC under Coimbre21, seven of those being individual pack Cupcake cards (listed as Hostess and one listed by COMC as Twinkie, because there is no Beckett listing for individual Cupcake cards). There are also two 79s cut from larger panels, Reuschel and Piniella. All are reasonably priced and I have auto-accept set at 20% off sales price but for these I will manually accept a 25% off offer.

I posted this in another threads some time ago but here's what I've been able to uncover:

1975 Three card horizontal panel - black print
1975 Single card on individual Twinkie panel - black print
1975 Single card on individual Twinkie panel - brown print

1976 Three card horizontal panel - black print
1976 Three card horizontal panel - brown print (fFound w/ King Dons in the south)
1976 Three card L-shaped panel - black print
1976 Single card on individual Twinkie panel - black print
1976 Single card on individual HoHo or Zinger panel (slightly smaller than Twinkie panels) - black print

1977 Three card horizontal panel - black print
1977 Single card individual Cupcake - smaller black print & black bar
1977 Single card individual Twinkie - black print
1977 Single card individual Twinkie 3 Pack or Suzy Q - black print
1977 Single card individual HoHo or Zinger panel - black print
1977 Single card individual Snowballs (maybe) panel with side flaps - black print

1978 Three card horizontal panel - black print

1979 Three card horizontal panel - black print
1979 Three card horizontal panel - brown print
I have seen L-shaped 1979 panels but do not own any.

I will try to post photos of some of these variations in the new future.
