He only won the Defensive Player of the Year once. The reason too is that everyone doubted his defensive abilities. He has always been good on the defensive end, but clearly known for what he did offesively. To quite the doubters, he one this award.

Does Basketball have a Triple Corwn?

Wilt Chamberlain led the league in Assists, Rebounds and was third in points in 1967-68. That is the closest anyone has come.

What about the MVP Triple Crown? All-Star, Regular Season, and Finals? Jordan did it in 96 & 98. Shaq did it in 2000. Don't think anyone else has done that.

Jordan won Defensive Player of the Year more often than the casual fan (i.e., not anyone on this board) realizes; though he was obviously recognized more prominently for his offensive prowess, players used to say they hated being guarded by his tenacious defensive attitude. That would be an intersting to see if anyone could or has ever achieved that defensive triple crown of blocks, steals, & defensive rebounds. I just don't see anyone leading points, rebounds, and assists in a season anytime soon in the NBA.I attempted to look up the league leaders in Blocks and Steals and add to the leaders in Scoring, Rebounds, and Assists. I found it pretty interesting that when those two categories are added to the mix that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and David Robinson have also achieved a career "Triple Crown" along with Wilt Chamberlain. Career Triple Crown: Scoring, Rebounds & Assists: Wilt Chamberlain Scoring, Rebounds & Blocks: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar David Robinson Here are the players that has led the league 2 of 5 "triple crown" categories (Scoring, Rebounds, Assists, Blocks, and Steals). The number after their name is the number of times that the lead in those categories in the same season. No number next to their name means that they lead the league in those categories but in different seasons. Scoring & Rebounds: Wilt Chamberlain - 5 Elvin Hayes Kareem Abdul-Jabbar David Robinson Scoring & Assists: Nate "Tiny" Archibald - 1 Jerry West Scoring & Blocks: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar David Robinson Scoring & Steals: Michael Jordan - 3 Allen Iverson - 2 Rick Barry Rebounds & Assists: Wilt Chamberlain Rebounds & Blocks: Dwight Howard - 2 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar - 1 Bill Walton - 1 Hakeem Olajuwon - 1 Ben Wallace - 1 Dikembe Mutombo David Robinson Assists & Steals: John Stockton - 2 Chris Paul - 2 Michael Ray Richardson - 1 Magic Johnson Rajon Rondo I hope I didn't miss any players. That was a bunch of stuff to look through! Hope everyone finds it as interesting as I did.
