The rule is not about asking it is about posting, right? We just can't post BV's. I don't think it says people can't ask. But I could be wrong.

Actually I do believe you can post the BV of your own cards for trade. But you cant disclose the bv of a card when asked. This gets tricky, and the mods wont let you get away with it. But if someone was to ask a Bv of a card, someone could reply that they have this card for trade and it books for ???

Its a fine line and most of us that like trading here dont cross it. .

you are not allowed to post bv's period, nor ask for bv's
you can enquire about market value, not guide value

Somewhere along the line we lost the intent Beckett desires as far as posting BVs go, so to clarify the whole BV thing again: asking for beckett pricing on the forums is not allowed but posting BV during a legitimate trade negotiation is fine. What we dont want is posts asking for BV's because that person doesnt have pricing but there are times when posting BVs is perfectly fine.

Here's a few examples with keyword LEGITIMATE:
--this jersey card books at $20 but I want $30 due to the 5 color patch on it. (OK)
--what does the 89 Topps Dan Marino book for? I don't have a OPG subscription. (NOT OK)
--listing a bunch of trade cards in a post with BVs (NOT OK)
--a legitimate discussion on a particular card's BV, too high, too low, what it's selling for (OK)
