I know my Dad has bought around 15 different PSA 10's of hard to find rookie cards he needed. He broke them out and sent them in to BGS. Only half ever came back 9.5 and the rest were 9.

I recently sent in around 11 PSA 10 graded cards into BGS to get them crossed over the BGS 9.5's. Only 4 got crossed to 9.5's the rest got sent back with didn't meet the minimum grade. However, I also cracked open some BGS 9 and PSA 9's and 2 of the 3 PSA 9's came back as BGS 9.5 (2 all with 9.5 subs). Of the BGS 9's that I sent in, all came back with different subgrades than the slabs the cards came from. For example, I sent in one card that had 9.5 for centering and it came back with an 8.5 for centering. I sent in an auto that I took from a BGS 9 case and it came back in a case saying altered!!!

So I think the grading is very subjective. All I am looking for is consistency.
