Just bought a box of 2011-2012 hockey cards for my son. I haven't followed hockey in years and I was wondering who some of the players/rookies to watch out for are in the box. He is four and just likes playing with the cards he opens, so I have let him play with base cards when I have opened basketball boxes in the past. I just don't know who I should set aside/put in card savers for hockey (besides the obvious auto or mem card). Thanks for helping.

Thanks for the input guys. I appreciate it. Like I said I am not a big hockey collector but I wanted to get my son into cards and he likes watching hockey so I just picked up a box of 2011 Elite Edition retail from Target to let him play with the base cards. As far as I can tell he had pretty good luck. His hits were:

Erik Gudbranson Rookie Card numbered out of /999
Steve Stamkos Elite Series #3 out of the 6 card subset
Cody Hodgson New Breed patch card

All in all I think pretty good for a retail box. Thanks again for the help.
