Wow, that's a lot for a resale card!
Sorry guys, I know it's not Foosball, but I only post here and don't know anyone in the BB forum! Smile

I understand what this guy's trying to do, but is this really the best way to go about this? There's always mutual funds and stocks, let alone IRA's and such...

Yeah I am a collector but I am not sure if I had that kind of money that I would invest in it.Seems like too much of a risk to me, although the article will give him some publicity so that may help.

i saw that too, read an article about the card itself that was pretty interesting as well. Once you get into that type of money its really on a whole new level. If you ask me I'd say its a pretty big gamble but should it pay off it'd be a really great story.

IMHO all the guy is trying to do is use the story of his little boy's "illness" to try and get bidders to bid it up, because if he doesn't he is going to lose money on the sale, basically that "card" doesn't even have a semi well known player on it.

If you have an ill child, the last thing your going to do is blow $92,000 on a baseball photograph, in hope of re-listing it, and hopefully making more money, which the odds are against you that you will, unless you have some sort of sob story to make bidders feel sorry for you, and bid more on it.

It's more like a cabinet card, a photo on cardboard. They are referred to as Carte de visite, note the notation 'CDV'. And it's not the first one, here's one from 1864.
