First hobby box break in over a decade: 2011 Topps Lineage, complete stat breakdown

First hobby box break in over a decade: 2011 Topps Lineage, complete stat breakdown
So, when i went into business for myself, i decided not to collect anymore - the old adage of "dont get high on your own supply" being in the front and back of my mind.

Busting boxes is almost always a money loser for the ledger book, so i have always just avoided it. Every once in a while i would buy a blaster at walmart, but that was it

In buying inventory the past couple years, i really came to like 2011 topps lineage. not enough to go back into collecting, but i enjoyed the set. not overloaded with rookies, some hall of famers, and the throwback inserts were mostly from a time when i first started collecting

Earlier this week, i finally decided to buy a box (almost bought a case, until i snapped out of it). Found a box, got it for 52 dollars, with free shipping.

i have no intention of keeping the bounty, but everything worth 1 dollar or would go into my dutch auction (10% of which goes to my charity) and put everything else into my charity lots, 100% of which goes to my charity.

52 dollars for a mid-level box wasnt bad. so what did i get:

Base cards, non rc or (rc) worth 1 dollar or more:
18 cards = $26.75, average bv $1.48

I remember the day that came out I sold my Mantle stand up for 30 bucks, I bought one box and actually made money...anyways, Lineage is a pretty darn good product, the minis sell well on COMC, as well as the inserts, and all the legends in the base set makes it a nice value compared to a lot of mid-end products. Those 1952 reprint autos are very nice, and there's lots of other good stuff. I was part of a group case break recently and a Dan Hudson canary auto was pulled. Your box wasn't too bad, the Mantle stand-up is decent as is the Silvera. Also depending on who you got you might be able to get five bucks out of your box topper.

fairly average. im sure if i sold differently, i might be able to make a few more dollars, turn it into a 20 dollar loss instead of a 30 dollars loss. but i went into it knowing i would lose money

Yea, it really kind of hits my sweet spot as a collector. i got the david wright as a box topper, but it is going into my dutch, just like everything else worth 1 dollar or more. i donnt sell singles (not fair to hold out good cards or cards that i think will make more. i keep it honest with my customers)

you know, it really was fun. i know i can pick up a case of this for 500 and it is very tempting to do so (i probably would end up losing about 200-250 dollars, unless i got lucky)

but i think im going to hold off and let the fun of this settle before i start binge-ing

I had a lot of fun busting Lineage, one of the LCS near me put boxes on sale for 38 bucks so I bought them all and pulled some real nice stuff put a couple base sets together, the complete '64 Giants set and am thinking about doing the '75 mini set. I think it was a better product than Archives last year.

I really liked the variety of inserts in that set, but wasn't crazy about the look of the base cards. -Kind of dull. With that said, I bought a couple boxes (and I don't buy a lot of boxes). I think it was good bang for the buck.

RE: First hobby box break in over a decade: 2011 Topps Lineage, complete stat breakdown
I have been trying to put together a Master Master lineage set.
If anyone can help please let me know.

The mini relic checklist is 99.
However, there are numerous variations between bats and jerseys.
I have 46 variations to date Totalling 145 mini relics.

I need 12 more canary relics / 99 (These are numbered /10)
to complete the canary set.
Have noticed 1 of the canaries had a variation so far.

Also, I need nine canary autos.
This is supposed to be 85 players. However, MY checklist differs from topps.
Not a big surprise to me!

Looking for 1 printing plate for each of the 200 base cards.
I'm at 104 / 200 now (This is tough)

I have 102/ 200 error cards in the base set.

This set is MASSIVE!!! Please help me if you can!

Thanks,

Jerry
