OT scanning cards in photoshop

OT scanning cards in photoshop
I'm having a little trouble and hopefully the community can help me. When I scan regular cards meaning non-shiny cards (chrome, refractors, etc) they come out pretty well and I'm satisfied with the results. However when I attempt to scan cards that are reflective they come out terrible. I always notice trade threads and box breaks where other members cards always look awesome and I'd like to learn the ways haha.

I have a HP Photosmart D110 all-in printer and have Photoshop CS3. I try to scan at 600 dpi. Any advice

Try putting into photshop, then reduce glare. Best idea I can think of.
