are all the rookies glossy and the vets plain? I was wondering opened my first pack and thats what it seems and also do the black refractors have the black background like the orange ?

Yep the Rc's have a chrome finish while the vets have more of a foil board finish. And yes the Black refractors have a black background like the Orange, Ruby, Purple, etc...
