New Collector - where to begin?
#1

New Collector - where to begin?
About 20 years ago, I was given about 25 large boxes of cards. All in excellent condition.... and sorted by sport. Each box has 4 compartments, each holding about a foot's length of cards. The thing is, there are so many cards (I would say thousands and thousands) I don't know where to begin. Every now and then, I pull out a box and take a peek at a few cards, but it is so overwhelming that I just put it all away again. There are baseball, hockey, footbal and comic cards and movie cards... all kinds. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to begin sorting and cataloguing for possible sale of the card collection? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Best way is to sort by type [Movie, Comic, Football, ETC] then by years, if your feeling froggie after that then sort by manufacturer.

Thank you for your suggestions. I am not sure that I really would have anything of value, but then, I don't really know the collector's world. The cards I have only date back to 1992. There are so many of them..... I will follow your link and take a look at your suggestion a little closer. Thank you again.

I have mine sorted by sport, player and year and would have them by brand if the organize would not sort them randomly (as I have asked for several times). It is a pain to log sets when it doesn't list them in numerical order like the old organize and like the magazine does.
