Thanks!
I try not to think about how much I've spent
Although, I think the new stuff affects the older stuff's value, until (like so many things) the old becomes the "in" thing again... especially when it comes to inserts... now, no one wants them because of the autos and GU, so if someone wants to get into inserts, they are almost forced to go to the mid- / late-90's when so many cool inserts were produced.

I love the old 90's inserts and I still collect them but I collect very little modern stuff. All the old Pinnacle B, Nifty 50, Checkit, Franchises etc....were all cool. The prices have dropped from simple supply and demand. None are really that tough to find especially with the internet and so few people collecting them now. Back in the early to mid 90's everyone one was collecting.
Collecting Vintage OPC and older oddball and food issues as well as Maple Leafs.
Enjoy the hobby at it's purest form, treat it as you did as a kid.

All depends on what you're looking for... I still find 94-95 Score Check It, 94-95 Score Franchises, 95-96 Leaf Road to the Cup, 96-97 Leaf Fire on Ice (as a few examples) to be incredibly difficult to find, and I have to pay pretty big if/when I find one I need

Nice to hear everyone's opinions on insert cards. I have been away from the hobby for about 8 years, until one of the kids pulled a box of my stuff out. I can remember not even giving inserts a 2nd look from the 90's to '04 when I stopped collecting. Now when I look through someones org, the first thing I am looking for are inserts. I am actually waiting on about 5-10 patch/auto cards in the mail, but the two cards I am waiting on most are a couple of Hasek inserts from the 90's.

I know exactly what you mean... which is why I pretty much stopped collecting patch/auto cards or anything else new, because I was always so much more excited to get 90's inserts

I'm the same way about jersey cards. I love them, don't care that they've become worthless.
