On the Beta site (and previous versions) trades AND posts lead to your rating. With this current incarnation, ONLY posts count towards your member rating. Trades only count for your trader rating.
From what I have seen, the member rating scale goes like this:
250 posts gets you a second star (Jr. Member)
500 posts gets a 3rd star (Member)
2,500 posts gets a 4th star (Sr. Member)
10,000 posts gets a 5th star (HOF Member)
As for the 'thread stars', they are more than insignificant. They are pretty pointless b/c someone can mark a thread as a one and it will never go above a total rank of 3 or 4. Ranking threads is so insignificant that most true members don't bother rating threads.
The only thing that REALLY counts here is your trader rating. Anything above 4.95 is great, 4.98+ is where you really need to be though.
Member rating gains you a little respect, but only if you have other #'s to back that up!
