Whats the difference between BGS and BVG
Are they the same thing? Why do they use two names?
Looking for Urlacher 1/1s, and 2000 Rookie Year Cards (especially BGS/PSA)
Also looking for Devin Hester 1/1s & Supercollecting Lance Briggs!

One is for newer produced cards (BGS) and the other is for older produced cards (BVG).... I think they take into account the problems with the older cards with the bvg than they do with the bgs....scrutinize less

Beckett Vintage Grading - right? Everything 1980 and older can be stabbed, right?

RE: Whats the difference between BGS and BVG
I know if talking to the main BGS guy when I had a problem with another card I asked him that specifically. BVG has one guy that does all vintage grading. I guess he's been doing it longer or has an eye better for it or whatever you "need" to be a "good" grader. I hope that clears it up a little for you as I used to wonder my self and just like everyone has mentioned prior, it's certain years....It's either 1980 as ugameck mentioned or 1982 I can't remember which.

Thanks everyone, was just curious

I think that's pretty cool that they do that. Like Cybertrenz said that makes sense they don't grade as harshly
