3 Packs of BTP's
I know a lot of you guys frown apon pack searching, but when given the chance I took advantage of it. Afterall it is my money im speanding, so I want the best value haha. Anyway I went to a shop & the guy opened a box for me. After the whomping 10 seconds it takes me to feel through a box, I bought my 3 packs... And heres what I got 3 for 3:

That woulda been a pretty crappy box to buy unless it had good autos in it, but for $15 I was pretty happy.

I do that too when I buy a box, its pretty fun. BTP's has less then a millimeter difference between decoys & jerseys but I can still feel the weight difference... Artifatcs are pretty easy. Crown Royale is SUPER easy.

RE: 3 Packs of BTP's
pretty low man.

People like you are what is wrong with the hobby. Congrats on being proud to be a scumbag.

what about the next person in there? Isn't it their money too? Don't they deserve the same odds as you?

Also, don't be so proud about being able to find jersey cards in BTP, the memorabilia cards are visibly thicker in the packs, any IDIOT could find them (but even idiots usually have some kind of decency).
Currently Collecting Patrick Roy, PK Subban and Carey Price.

I have to agree with Adam on this one.

It is pretty bad that your LCS owner would allow that.

Really?? I garentee I give you a box and you cannot tell, just cause you can visibly see it once its out of the pack doesnt mean you can tell inside. Plenty of people have posted stories of watching people pack feel for a LONG time, spending minutes on each pack only to come out with nothing, while the person waiting behind them buys next and pulls the cards. I find it funny that your pretty upset bout it, yet if one of the cards I pulled was one you needed or collected and I offered it to you for free like I do to some people on here you would be all over it. So dont give me a a lecture how your the most honest man in the universe and im a scumbag. As Ive stated before in another thread about pack searching if I gave you a tool that could see thru scratch off lotto tickets, dont even try to tell me you wouldnt use it. Ive probably spent more money on boxes in the past week then you have all year, so again, dont tell me im some kind of idiot scrumbag.
If I laid out 4 packs in front of you and pointed to one pack and said THIS one contains a 1/1. Are you telling me you wouldnt take it?? Because your such a fair man that wants even odds you would shuffle all 4 packs and randomly draw one in hopes of getting the 1/1 on shear luck of the draw? Doubt it buddy, youd take the pack with the garenteed card.
For all the boxes I buy that come up short, im entitled to pick out my garenteed packs to make up for it. If you dont want to do that, then you dont have it, but there is really no need for childish name calling and blame me for "whats wrong with the hobby.

I agree with a few guys on here as well. It takes away from others that deserve the same chance at getting jersey/patch cards. If you buy more boxes in a week than most do (so called) in a year then why do you feel the need to pack search?? What happens when a young child has a few dollars to spend and never gets a jersey card or whatever because the packs have all been searched? What fun is that for a child or for other hobby collectors? I know many people that will not buy packs from boxes in a retail store or even some card shops unless the packs are behind the counter and given out. So many people wonder why the hobby is hurting and the kids aren't collecting anymore other than they cannot afford alot of the packs but never get anything when they do because of this. I, for one, have seen people searching and weighing packs and then see the same people selling at card shows and no, I won't deal with them and yes, I have been given very good offers by them when at another dealer's table. Feel good about yourself doing what you do...I, for one, won't do it and I won't take away the chance from others to find something with their hard earned money or for the few dollars a child might get for his birthday or allowance to purchase cards.

Very good responce. But I hardly feel that searching once in a while is ruining the hobby. Their are a lot more things that do, like fake cards, theifs as shows, outragous prices, ebay fees, resealing packs, unredeemed redemptions, horrible customer service. The list goes on. You asked why I did it? Well its simple, and as I stated, sometimes I like to make up for dud boxes that I have bought. As for the that making kids disinterested, I dont agree. When I was little it was base cards and some overproduced inserts. It was nothing special. The excitment was just looking at a players card up close & reading it and that kept me interested reguardless of what came out of the pack. Its not stealing, its not producing fakes, its not illegal and its also not something that many shops allow, but I do understand why some frown apon it, its not something that really bothers me because I perfer buying boxes anyway. If the cards are behind the counter & I want a pack then I will still buy as well.
