RE: My wife is the greatest!
Excellent story! It's so awesome being married to someone that is not only cool with you being involved in the hobby, but who actually gets into it too. You're definitely lucky, I've seen a few friends give up on the hobby because of pressure from the spouse. "So she buys $50 balls of yarn two or three times a week, but you can't buy a box of cards every now and then? Nonsense" It's kinda sad. We fall into the "lucky ones" category, for sure.

My wife and I always broke boxes together, even on a few of our first dates many years ago. She especially loved breaking 96-97 Upper Deck when the first jersey cards came out. I pulled an Yzerman from series 1, and a Beezer from series 2, and she was so ticked off that she didn't pull one, haha.

The wife tried to get me a card for my birthday last year, and I ended up sniping her bid without knowing it! Instead of the card, she got me boxes of SPGU And Contenders, and we opened them up right on the table at the Texas Roadhouse, haha. Prime rib & hockey cards, perfect birthday dinner! Anyway, we pulled some good stuff, had a fantastic dinner and went home, and sitting in my mailbox was the card. I opened it up and she punched me in the arm, laughing, haha. "That was the first thing I picked out for your present, but some jerk sniped my high bid at the last second and I lost it! Now I know who that jerk was!" Fun times, but a lesson learned, I'm no longer allowed to bid on anything in the couple weeks before my birthday or Christmas, haha.
