just wondering how a seller can garanted a rare card

heres the ebay descriptions.....

You are bidding on an unopened HOT pack from 2011-12 Score Hockey. This pack is guaranteed to have a Short Print Hot Rookies Card. You will pull either a Short Print Hot Rookies card numbered 551 to 570, Hot Rookies SP Autograph, or a NNO (no numbered) variation. All packs are still factory sealed and never opened.

I buy a couples of Score boxes but never identify the hot pack.... I allready pulled 2 Hopkins and some other commom SP Rookies but the pack looks exately the same as the 35 others packs in the box....

This is actually a hot button for most ppl on here. For autos/relics its possible to "squeeze" the packs and feel for either a sticker or memorabilia window. Also, it's possible for these packs to be weighed, as the thicker relic card will give the pack a higher weight. When it comes to SP rookies, IDK...he has to open them then reseal them to be able to do that I'd say....

Either way, it brings up a morality issue. Most of these ppl will take the packs from boxes in stores, leaving the rest of the packs of base for ppl to waste money on, with no chance of pulling an auto/relic. I'd steer clear.

Dont always trust ebay. I recently got a "Mint" Lou Eriksson card....it had was bent slightly around the card.

The Rookie SP run 1 per box so........
If you open 35 packs and do not get one than it is in the last pack.
I think that is how most of them do it.
I have bought several of those and have done very well for the most part.
Never got one with nothing and never had one that it was obviously resealed.

frankly I think if a seller is unscrupulous enough to sell hot packs, then its not a far stretch for me to believe that they opened the pack, saw it, and resealed it.

Or it's a complete scam and it's not a hot pack in any way. A lot of the time they'll put a question mark, or somewhere in the description they'll say that it may be hot. Anyone guaranteeing that something is in a pack has either seen and resealed it, or is lying through their teeth.

90% of them are searched and resealed. You'll get what you're guaranteed, but it will be an extremely low end "junk" card.

Steer clear.

as much as I love this idea lol then we'd be no better than the scammer who's selling it in the first place.
