the rule is xxxxxxxxxx

Old rules or new rule your team lost. There's no need to resort to a tired childish use of a word that's somehow supposed to be an insult.

It's funny you say that because the rule didn't even apply here. Team that had the ball first scored a TD. So, it was like the old rule that the first team that scores wins the game.

IMO, first score should win it. Why mix things up? That rule worked for all these years. Same thing with what qualifies as a catch. I have seen some awesome catches overturned this year that should have counted. Shame to ruin AWESOME plays with petty rules.

if that first score is a field goal, and the other team doesnt match it? that's just a vague sway of a coin toss for a victory

this way is more fair

Correct...MN and NO went up and down the field on each other in the NFC Championship two years ago...and it came down to NO winning the coin flip for who won the game. The rule was discussed that year and then passed this year.

Additionally, the game is over if a team scores a safety first.

Not exactly the same as college, but WAY better than the old NFL way.
