Fake cards

Fake cards
I just read on another site that a fake 1952 Mantle was discovered and it was in a PSA 6 holder. Supposedly someone were able to open the case, change out the card, and then reseal it. I switched to vintage graded this year because I got taken on a fake patch card last year. With the fake autos, patches, and graded cards running around is there no safe way to buy cards anymore other than purchasing boxes? Its killing the hobby for me.

Sorry about the rant.

I don't have it anymore. It was a 2007 SPA Kevin Kolb rc that had the full eagle head as the patch. I bought it at the Philly show and took it to my lcs to buy a holder for it and the owner pointed out some flaws that could have possibly have made it fake. The patch window border on one side was not as wide as the other 3 sides and the patch stuck out like it was too thick. The patch didn't go under the card. Kind of looked like this but the SPA version.

Found the Tony Hunt version:

I wish I still had it to show.
