I sold a $3500 card for $650

I sold a $3500 card for $650
well sort of.

early last yr, a customer bought 4 U.S.A. sets from me for $320 and got a harper 2/2 auto.

He offered it to me instead of the 320 he owed and I took it.

I wound up selling it for 650 a week later and was very happy.

Keep in mind this was before harper was even drafted.

So today I opened up the new beckett and the #2 highest selling card of last month was that EXACT harper......it sold for 3500 bucks.

I'd say you got someone else for $330 and you should still be very happy. I had a Pujols card back in 2001 I sold for around $250 and its now $4000 in the book. We all know the card. I have never felt bad cause at the time I made good money and it didn't cost me that to pull it.

You did good at the time and made double your asking price for the sets you sold so you should feel pretty good about that.

That's a GREAT perspective. I couldn't have said it better.

Oh believe me, not mad the least bit as there was no chance I would have held it more than a week or two more than I did.

I did something very similar. Back in 2005 I bought a case of Bowman Chrome Draft Picks. It was loaded, and to top it off I pulled the Justin Velander 1 of 1 Superfractor! This was his rookie year card, but his true RC was the autographed card from Bowman Chrome. I threw it up on eBay. He was a top prospect and his cards were selling well, but again I thought 'not a true RC' and he was in a team USA jersey, not a Tigers one. Anyway, I was offered $300 for it, and took it in a heartbeat!
I've seen the card pop up from time to time - the guy that bought it from me sold it a year later for $2000!!! It was then graded, resold a few times and, I just checked, was sold yesterday for......$3500!!!

Still very happy with my decision, but its funny to see a card you pulled and owned go for so much money!
