RE: OT-Wildfires in Central Texas
Well, I regret to report that there were two deaths today. Not alot of info on that matter pending investigation. Along with the Bastrop fire there are several more in this area and two of the major ones are believed to be caused by arsonists. Police are looking for 4 teens in connection with the Leander fire that has done alot of damage and another in Pflugerville, a person of interest was arrested and then released. Sad man, not only are there not enough firefighters, these hoodlums have to go out and make it worse for thousands of people. It was really tough today seeing the devastation and the look in the eyes of some of these people who have lost everything, they look broken. As far as i know there was no progress as far as containment, just trying to get people out of the way of this thing that is showing no mercy! Fema is on the scene now and DC-10's are flying overhead but it isnt doing any good so far.
I appreciate the kind words. I am grateful i still have a home, I saw numerous customers of mine that i worked on or remodeled theirs homes in the past that dont have that home anymore. Unbeilevable. They even had the roads closed today to downtown where the post office was. Bear with me Pbean, it is coming tomorrow! It is a nice fat package! I am drained now after all that and i was only there for about 8 hours. I will let ya'll know updates as i find out. (09-06-2011, 06:13 PM)anjatlf Wrote: Yea I just left there from leave. Yes we need a hurricane to hit the Texas coast. And it isnt only Bastrop and Austin, they are popping up all over Texas. This one in Bastrop is bad though, over 600 homes. It is unreal is all I can say. I will be safe though, I have a family that depends on me.
I live in houston and went to work early around 6:30. There was such a haze outside and my whole uniform smelled like smoke for the first few hours.
This is incredible! Houses on all sides and everything in between is gone except this was still there. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=2...e=1&ref=nf
Be safe bro. Headed that way myself got to go to Laredo. Don't know for sure when I'll be through there but keep your head up and take care of that family and yourself
