Wayne, do you need Tom Needham?
Interested in EX-MT or better pre-'56 Cardinals, '53 Bowman Color & '74-'78 Topps.

No I never atteneded a card show and I have been collecting for 25 years non stop.
In 2003 I bought a collection sight unseen and it the collection were 4 huge boxes that stood 3.5 feet tall an and aboout 2x2 feet length and width. I was away from home and my wife called and told be she cannot use the front door. I told her to move the boxes out of the way and she said yea right they are heavy. ( At the time I didnt know the size of the boxes) So 7 days later I get home and I was shocked. I moved the boxes and put one by the dining room table anxius to see what was it it. The first box had the T-206 Tris Speaker booked at the time 300.00, the next box I opened had the Goudey Sports kings Babe Ruth 1933, sitting right on top, 3 third box had a 1914 Genereal Baking Honus Wagner at the time it booked 600.00 and the 4rth box had Miller Huggins T-206 booked 100.00. I paid 500 dollars for the collection and another 526.00 to have it shipped from my moms house to my house. All together I had over 300 T-206s in the collection. I put the boxes in the closet and called the Cops in the area and my mom helped. After 6 months with no word I called the police in that area and surrounding areas and no-one claimed they were stolen and the police told me since 6 months has passed they are mine. The other I had my LCS pick up the ones I needed and traded for a few of them. I even took these to my LCS and he said they were 100% authentic and he taught me how to locate fakes and what to watch out for. I got a Chief Bender and I had suspecions about it and sent it to Beckett and they graded it It was very clean and crisp card with sharp corners but someone back in the day put a thumb tack right above his head so it graded a 1/ Probably the best graded 1 in existance.

The collection came with 2 complete sets of 1986 Topps football with 2 great looking Rice rookies. I sold one set and kept one set for myself.

Since that time I have traded off a bunch of the stuff and sold a bunch off stuff. The stuff I sold I made 9,000.00 for they were duplicates or complete sets.

I also found a T-206 Fred Nodgrass but something just doesnt seem right about the card. For 10 years now I am still trying to decide to sent to SGC for authentication for Snodgrss should have a red background but the one I have is orange. I havent seen another one like it. (Half of the S is broken off)

Nice story on how it all started. Nice to look at this thread again, and appreciate those T-206. That collection is the main reason I started picking those white tobacco cards 3 years ago.
