A mere piece of cardboard will at least last 1000 years in its mint state. I doubt that the electrical components of this "card" will still be functionable in 5 years. Bad $$$ investment.

RE: The future of sports cards...really?
I remember being in third grade when I first started collecting cards and I asked my friend "wouldn't it be cool if cards were holographic or had video on them?". That was 15 years ago and now look where we are. I didn't really know what I was talking about and my expectations were obviously high as jersey cards were still about a year from being produced. But now my expectations for my cards in the next 10 years is to be able to turn into a spaceship and transport me across the universe if I so desire.

Iono man... It's more impressive to me than a JERSEY card. I'm so sick of pulling those now.
Why are they even considered "HITS?" A parallel card numbered to /10 or /25 is worth more!

Already been done. Look at the Allen & Ginter cards that have JFK's hair etc.

It's a matter of preference, I am certain there is a market for it. I am also hoping that it doesn't replace a more traditional card. I think I can assume that it won't since we still have base cards along with our jersey and autographed cards. I think the direction should be more along the lines of a 3D image popping out of the card.
