Basically, information regarding years and if they're salable in the condition they're in. Or if I should restore them. Does restoring them hurt value like other vintage items?

dont know about tonk a trucks ... but its been my experience with coins and antiques that collectors do not want restored items..... painting and cars are another story .... for some reason most people pay more for them when they are restored "Properly"

Thanks George! Yeah, I was thinking the same thing...But people restore cars, just not sure about TOY cars lol. I'm thinking it might not be worth the hassle of breaking them down and sand blasting all the parts and finding original paint.

ok, to answer your questions

1. Tonkas were first made in 1946 to today

2. As far as saleability, yes, they are salebel,;and there are collectors looking for them.

3. As for condition, condition ratings go from c6 to c10

C6= well played with and used, evident overall wearing

c8= Very good, very minor wear, very clean, etc....

C10= basically a Beckett 9.5 grade, mint, no wear, no marks, etc....

A c10 still in the package will sell usually for 3 to 4 times more than a c10 without the package

4. As far as restoring them, don't, most collectors will not buy a restored item, and they prefer them with all the parts, and in as original condition as possible (even if it is rusty)

5. As far as value of them, of course the older stuff is going to bring more money, but a c6 usually starts around $100 with a c10 going for about $350 ( On a good day ) ( and remember this is older stuff say like 1950's to 1960's)
