Once, long ago, I broke open an ITG slabbed card (I don't remember why) and I used a case cutter to work on the adhesive and then a letter opener. It worked just fine. Of course, I always ask myself, "Why did I do that?" But, since I can't remember the card, I guess it does not matter. Good luck.
