Can anyone tell me how the scratched off names of the cards affect the values?

Cards would no long be considered mint.
Unfortunately, it depends...
To the supposed letter of the law, they shouldn't be considered 'mint', but I have seen graded copies that are scratched but register as 'Mint' 9s or 8.5s (no, not mis-graded OPC). So it depends largely on who is looking at it. I think a lot of collectors might not mind them, but it will largely depend on individual preference.
