BVG Grading Question
Does anyone know if Beckett uses the same criteria when grading an older card say from the 50s as a new card? When the old cards were printed there were many more instances of bad cuts, centering issues, rough edges etc.
They no longer use the subgrades for BVG and am wondering why? Is it so that they can be more forgiving with centering for example?

No need for you to be sorry unless your name is Beckett :-) Too bad that they got rid of subgrades, it makes no real sense to me since they continue that with BGS. Problem is, you get a card back with a grade lower than you would have expected and have no idea why.

I know what you're saying. Beckett said that they had enough feedback to do away with the subgrades on vintage cards. The only trouble is, we can't find out who all these people are. Everyone on here liked and miss the subgrades.

Agreed, I find that very hard to believe that enough people compained about getting too much information on the cards they sent in.....

Agreed. Me too.
Here's a link from the Grading section of Beckett's web site:

Maybe these so-called Beckett customers just wanted to see Beckett fail.
