Or sometimes people are lucky enough to bust open an old box and find a Brunell #'ed to his jersey RE: Mark Brunell Collection - Last Week - FOUR #1/1s, 2 RARE In Person Autos, Promo Pack - jaderock - 09-28-2016 (09-15-2016, 04:18 PM)jplarson Wrote: Or sometimes people are lucky enough to bust open an old box and find a Brunell #'ed to his jersey Thanks JP! -- Today's NEW Addition: Finally a real #1/1 Card off the needlist 1997 Playoff Contenders Gold Mark Brunell #63 (#1/1). This card was so awesome I snapped it up before looking at the pics/description. Unfortunately, this card was (and will forever be) in a 1 inch thick lucite acrylic screwdown holder. Over the past 19 years, the top and bottom of the card (about 1/4 inch on both) are now stuck on the holder. In addition, there are many surface cracks on the front. I really thought about returning it, but in the end me and the seller agreed on a settlement. Thanks for looking and never stop jadeROCKing! Back Front where all the problems are. RE: Mark Brunell Collection - Last Week - FOUR #1/1s, 2 RARE In Person Autos, Promo Pack - coltsfansince85 - 09-30-2016 Bummer it's stuck, but man it's got to be nice to have it in the collection! Congrats on the addition. RE: Mark Brunell Collection - Last Week - FOUR #1/1s, 2 RARE In Person Autos, Promo Pack - djohn - 10-03-2016 Oh those lucite screw-downs. I wish they were never made. I have seen way too many cards come out damaged due to being in one of them. RE: Mark Brunell Collection - Last Week - FOUR #1/1s, 2 RARE In Person Autos, Promo Pack - jaderock - 10-05-2016 Thanks coltsfan and djohn! I never seen problems with lucite screw-downs before this one. Rather I knew of problems with regular screwdowns where the card thicker than the holder. --- Today's NEW addition: Press Photo Washington Huskies photo of Mark Brunell and Ricky Cobb Thanks for looking and never stop jadeROCKing! RE: Mark Brunell Collection - Last Week - FOUR #1/1s, 2 RARE In Person Autos, Promo Pack - djohn - 10-05-2016 (10-05-2016, 02:27 AM)jaderock Wrote: Thanks coltsfan and djohn! I never seen problems with lucite screw-downs before this one. Rather I knew of problems with regular screwdowns where the card thicker than the holder. The problems usually stem from someone not using a penny sleeve inside the holder and over-tightening the screws. Sometimes even using a penny sleeve won't prevent damage if the screws are too tight. It's one reason they started adding the recesses in the holders to fit the cards, but if the cards are thicker than the recess it doesn't prevent the same thing from happening. I learned the hard way, as I had a Dan Marino rookie in a similar holder since I got it back in 1990. The card had perfect centering and corners, so a few years ago I went to take it out and send it in for grading only to find that some of the ink had attached itself to the holder thus ruining the surface of the card. |
