1986 Topps Football Roger Craig Pristine 10: advice on selling - jawiii - 05-23-2016
I am new to this forum (1st post) but thought it might be a good place to get some advice on selling a 1986 Topps Football Roger Craig (card #157) graded Pristine 10 (edges was only 9.5 subgrade) that I just picked up from BGS today.
It's only the 2nd pristine 10 in all of the 1986 Topps Football and the only 1/1 of the regular green bordered cards (the other is an all yellow border receiving leaders card).
I am strapped for cash and would like to sell this card soon, but I don't really know where to start as far as where to sell it and how to value it/price it. A PSA 10 of the same card sells for around $185, but there is obviously a big difference between a Pristine 10 and a PSA gem mint 10. I also don't have any idea where to sell it (eBay??).
Like I said, I am willing to sell it quickly but I don't want to get ridiculously less than fair value for it. Any help would be appreciated.
Also, yes I am open to offers.
I tried to attach a pic but not sure it worked. The card is BGS serial number 0009241693.

Nice card.
In this case you want the biggest audience so Ebay is your best option.
Listing with a Buy It Now price and accepting offers will be probably sell it at the speed you're looking for. However the fees are higher and you WILL get low ball offers.
Otherwise you can test your luck with the auction format. You may not get the price you want but you won't get hammered with fees.

The registry drives prices for cards like this (high grade veterans from the condition sensitive but mass-production years). Great card in rare condition but not sure I see it fetching much more than its a Psa 10 due to the strength of the other registry.

Tough question.....it's really a card that would not be in high demand at all but it's a rare 10 grade and it's from a condition sensitive set. I would think that your market for this card is pretty small....perhaps someone who tries to collect cards graded 10 or maybe even a Roger Craig collector. I don't know what kind of money you are thinking you can get for it but I would not think it will command too high of a price. Just my opinion of course.

If we use my 2008 SP Rookie Edition Autographs 1996 Roger Craig which has a raw Beckett value of $37.50 as a base model from a value prospective you might be able to get at most $40.00 for you BGS graded Pristine 10 1986 Topps Roger Craig in a best case scenario. Keep in mind that your Roger Craig in raw condition has a high Beckett value of only 50 cents. Anyway I hope this helps.

Considering there isn't a Beckett value listed for any graded 1986 Topps Roger Craig cards he just got lucky & remember I using my Roger Craig autographed card as a base model so it wasn't the be all that ends all by any means. On a separate note I think whomever bought the card at that price is completely insane simply based on the fact that the person could have bought a ton 1986 Topps Roger Craig cards for around .50 cents each & just sent the best looking one to be graded which would have been much cheaper.
