First hobby box break in over a decade: 2011 Topps Lineage, complete stat breakdown - jacobystealshome - 01-26-2013 So, when i went into business for myself, i decided not to collect anymore - the old adage of "dont get high on your own supply" being in the front and back of my mind. Busting boxes is almost always a money loser for the ledger book, so i have always just avoided it. Every once in a while i would buy a blaster at walmart, but that was it In buying inventory the past couple years, i really came to like 2011 topps lineage. not enough to go back into collecting, but i enjoyed the set. not overloaded with rookies, some hall of famers, and the throwback inserts were mostly from a time when i first started collecting Earlier this week, i finally decided to buy a box (almost bought a case, until i snapped out of it). Found a box, got it for 52 dollars, with free shipping. i have no intention of keeping the bounty, but everything worth 1 dollar or would go into my dutch auction (10% of which goes to my charity) and put everything else into my charity lots, 100% of which goes to my charity. 52 dollars for a mid-level box wasnt bad. so what did i get: Base cards, non rc or (rc) worth 1 dollar or more: 18 cards = $26.75, average bv $1.48 2011 Topps Lineage #2 Derek Jeter 2011 Topps Lineage #4 Buster Posey 2011 Topps Lineage #7 Mickey Mantle 2011 Topps Lineage #13 Cal Ripken Jr. 2011 Topps Lineage #40 Stan Musial 2011 Topps Lineage #50 Lou Gehrig 2011 Topps Lineage #53 Mike Schmidt 2011 Topps Lineage #75 Alex Rodriguez 2011 Topps Lineage #98 Evan Longoria 2011 Topps Lineage #100 Babe Ruth 2011 Topps Lineage #105 Ty Cobb 2011 Topps Lineage #108 Hank Aaron 2011 Topps Lineage #120 Ichiro Suzuki 2011 Topps Lineage #141 Ozzie Smith 2011 Topps Lineage #160 Stephen Strasburg 2011 Topps Lineage #178 Albert Pujols 2011 Topps Lineage #187 Justin Verlander 2011 Topps Lineage #196 Ichiro Suzuki RC and (rc): 6 cards = $9.00, average bv $1.50 (1 rc and 1 (rc) were worth less than 1 dollar and not included) 2011 Topps Lineage #24 Tsuyoshi Nishioka RC 2011 Topps Lineage #34 Kyle Drabek RC 2011 Topps Lineage #139 Michael Pineda RC 2011 Topps Lineage #146 Freddie Freeman RC 2011 Topps Lineage #148 Aroldis Chapman RC 2011 Topps Lineage #159 Yonder Alonso RC Inserts and parallels, non GU/auto: 29 cards = $93.00, average bv $3.21 2011 Topps Lineage 1975 Mini #3 Jimmie Foxx 2011 Topps Lineage 1975 Mini #24 Tsuyoshi Nishioka 2011 Topps Lineage 1975 Mini #30 Chase Utley 2011 Topps Lineage 1975 Mini #32 Jon Lester 2011 Topps Lineage 1975 Mini #76 Roberto Alomar 2011 Topps Lineage 1975 Mini #117 Torii Hunter 2011 Topps Lineage 3-D #T3D10 Alex Rodriguez 2011 Topps Lineage 3-D #T3D13 Miguel Cabrera 2011 Topps Lineage Cloth Stickers #TCS9 Hanley Ramirez 2011 Topps Lineage Cloth Stickers #TCS13 Lou Gehrig 2011 Topps Lineage Diamond Anniversary Platinum Refractors #3 Jimmie Foxx 2011 Topps Lineage Diamond Anniversary Platinum Refractors #49 Matt Kemp 2011 Topps Lineage Diamond Anniversary Platinum Refractors #94 John Smoltz 2011 Topps Lineage Diamond Anniversary Platinum Refractors #157 Wandy Rodriguez 2011 Topps Lineage Diamond Anniversary Platinum Refractors #165 Jose Reyes 2011 Topps Lineage Diamond Anniversary Platinum Refractors #171 Ryne Sandberg 2011 Topps Lineage Diamond Anniversary Refractors #4 Buster Posey 2011 Topps Lineage Diamond Anniversary Refractors #60 Reggie Jackson 2011 Topps Lineage Diamond Anniversary Refractors #69 Jayson Werth 2011 Topps Lineage Diamond Anniversary Refractors #177 Phil Hughes 2011 Topps Lineage Diamond Anniversary Refractors #181 Frank Thomas 2011 Topps Lineage Diamond Anniversary Refractors #197 Andre Dawson 2011 Topps Lineage Giants #TG15 David Wright 2011 Topps Lineage Rookies #TR4 Aroldis Chapman 2011 Topps Lineage Rookies #TR5 Jeremy Hellickson 2011 Topps Lineage Rookies #TR6 Jake McGee 2011 Topps Lineage Rookies #TR7 Kyle Drabek 2011 Topps Lineage Stand-Ups #TS18 Joe Mauer 2011 Topps Lineage Stand-Ups #TS23 Mickey Mantle GU and autos: 3 cards = $31.00, average bv $10.33 2011 Topps Lineage 1952 Autographs #52ADD David DeJesus 2011 Topps Lineage Autographs #CS Charlie Silvera 2011 Topps Lineage 1975 Mini Relics #AS Alfonso Soriano So, total of all cards 1 dollar more in this box: 56 cards, $159.75, average bv $2.85 Money I will make on that: $22.82. RE: First hobby box break in over a decade: 2011 Topps Lineage, complete stat breakdown - dlcarst - 01-26-2013 I remember the day that came out I sold my Mantle stand up for 30 bucks, I bought one box and actually made money...anyways, Lineage is a pretty darn good product, the minis sell well on COMC, as well as the inserts, and all the legends in the base set makes it a nice value compared to a lot of mid-end products. Those 1952 reprint autos are very nice, and there's lots of other good stuff. I was part of a group case break recently and a Dan Hudson canary auto was pulled. Your box wasn't too bad, the Mantle stand-up is decent as is the Silvera. Also depending on who you got you might be able to get five bucks out of your box topper. RE: First hobby box break in over a decade: 2011 Topps Lineage, complete stat breakdown - swjrp10 - 01-26-2013 Leave it to jacoby to make box busting depressing! im just playing, hope it was fun, and im glad you got some stuff for your charity RE: First hobby box break in over a decade: 2011 Topps Lineage, complete stat breakdown - jacobystealshome - 01-28-2013 (01-26-2013, 06:17 PM)nyyankeesfan28 Wrote: Not a bad box at all! fairly average. im sure if i sold differently, i might be able to make a few more dollars, turn it into a 20 dollar loss instead of a 30 dollars loss. but i went into it knowing i would lose money (01-26-2013, 09:42 PM)dlcarst Wrote: I remember the day that came out I sold my Mantle stand up for 30 bucks, I bought one box and actually made money...anyways, Lineage is a pretty darn good product, the minis sell well on COMC, as well as the inserts, and all the legends in the base set makes it a nice value compared to a lot of mid-end products. Yea, it really kind of hits my sweet spot as a collector. i got the david wright as a box topper, but it is going into my dutch, just like everything else worth 1 dollar or more. i donnt sell singles (not fair to hold out good cards or cards that i think will make more. i keep it honest with my customers) (01-26-2013, 11:07 PM)swjrp10 Wrote: Leave it to jacoby to make box busting depressing! im just playing, hope it was fun, and im glad you got some stuff for your charity you know, it really was fun. i know i can pick up a case of this for 500 and it is very tempting to do so (i probably would end up losing about 200-250 dollars, unless i got lucky) but i think im going to hold off and let the fun of this settle before i start binge-ing (01-26-2013, 11:07 PM)swjrp10 Wrote: Leave it to jacoby to make box busting depressing! im just playing, hope it was fun, and im glad you got some stuff for your charity you know, it really was fun. i know i can pick up a case of this for 500 and it is very tempting to do so (i probably would end up losing about 200-250 dollars, unless i got lucky) but i think im going to hold off and let the fun of this settle before i start binge-ing RE: First hobby box break in over a decade: 2011 Topps Lineage, complete stat breakdown - Haze28 - 01-28-2013 I had a lot of fun busting Lineage, one of the LCS near me put boxes on sale for 38 bucks so I bought them all and pulled some real nice stuff put a couple base sets together, the complete '64 Giants set and am thinking about doing the '75 mini set. I think it was a better product than Archives last year. RE: First hobby box break in over a decade: 2011 Topps Lineage, complete stat breakdown - uvaspina - 01-28-2013 I really liked the variety of inserts in that set, but wasn't crazy about the look of the base cards. -Kind of dull. With that said, I bought a couple boxes (and I don't buy a lot of boxes). I think it was good bang for the buck. RE: First hobby box break in over a decade: 2011 Topps Lineage, complete stat breakdown - liv2mow - 01-29-2013 I have been trying to put together a Master Master lineage set. If anyone can help please let me know. The mini relic checklist is 99. However, there are numerous variations between bats and jerseys. I have 46 variations to date Totalling 145 mini relics. I need 12 more canary relics / 99 (These are numbered /10) to complete the canary set. Have noticed 1 of the canaries had a variation so far. Also, I need nine canary autos. This is supposed to be 85 players. However, MY checklist differs from topps. Not a big surprise to me! Looking for 1 printing plate for each of the 200 base cards. I'm at 104 / 200 now (This is tough) I have 102/ 200 error cards in the base set. This set is MASSIVE!!! Please help me if you can! Thanks, Jerry RE: First hobby box break in over a decade: 2011 Topps Lineage, complete stat breakdown - uvaspina - 01-29-2013 (01-29-2013, 09:25 AM)liv2mow Wrote: I have been trying to put together a Master Master lineage set.
