Just an FYI - georgehenrycollector - 08-03-2012 My Postal Carrier has just informed me of a meeting they had this morning. Some highlights: By 2014 they want to phase out all rural routes. By requiring P.o. Boxes. They want to go to cluster Boxes. And within 5 years they can see a 3 day only Delivery week Guess we will see what happens. RE: Just an FYI - p18mann - 08-03-2012 Figures (shaking my head) RE: Just an FYI - sconnienation3 - 08-03-2012 Wow. 3 days a week is a pretty severe cutback! RE: Just an FYI - koolkellygirl - 08-03-2012 Plus more $$$$$$$$$$$$ RE: Just an FYI - slotman11 - 08-03-2012 Beginning of the end of the USPS... Just a matter of time... RE: Just an FYI - shezdoni - 08-03-2012 They are already unable to pay their medical insurance policy on heir carriers, and Congress told them there would be no bail out, typical action by the Govt RE: Just an FYI - georgehenrycollector - 08-03-2012 (08-03-2012, 01:36 PM)shezdoni Wrote: They are already unable to pay their medical insurance policy on heir carriers, and Congress told them there would be no bail out, typical action by the Govt Oh now that it was brought up. They changed their insurance recently. They will only cover 25% of their Medical bills now. RE: Just an FYI - charps - 08-03-2012 Maybe if shipping stuff didn't cost so damn much, stamps didnt go up every few years, etc...things wouldn't be so bad. Seems like we are going backwards to pony express RE: Just an FYI - bgt masters of tikid - 08-03-2012 When the prices of gas triples in 10 years you can sort of expect the price of sending something would go up. RE: Just an FYI - rybowski97 - 08-03-2012 i seriously doubt anything like that will happen. if they cut back to 3 days a week this destroy all the money they are making on the priority and overnight mail. who would bother with the post office, everyone would switch to ups or fedex. |
