Looking for something different to do - mjmj1966 - 04-22-2012

Been putting a few sets together from the last few years and would like to put a few together from the 90's. I kind of missed the 90's being overseas in the military. I just need to look at different player names to change things up a bit. Anyone have any suggestions? Looking for something I can buy a few boxes of to get started , not real expensive that will break the bank, and must have some decent inserts. Not looking to do a regular Topps set. Any suggestions appreciated.

Mike

98 Spx Finite would keep you busy. 98 Topps Tek would too, but I hear finding boxes of those is difficult

90's fleer ultra products had some decent inserts and it wouldn't cost too much. I imagine you could still find boxes of those.

If you want a challenge, try 2000 Pacific Prisms. Beautiful cards with many beautiful parallels and inserts. Not sure how easy it would be to find a box though.

I always liked the Finest. They've got nice inserts and some decent resale value if you hit a rare insert or Gold base or 2.

I bought a box of 1996 SP at my LCS for $20 the other day. Loved opening the box. Got a few star inserts, etc. and almost put an entire set together (remember the days when you could do that with 1 box).

Go collect Cabbage Patch Kids. There are weirdos who actually treat them like their real children. One couple has spent over a million dollars on the stupid dolls and even built them a side house of their own.

You know how much 1989 Topps I could buy with a million dollars?

PS - THANKS TOPPS!

Try to collect all the GU cards from 2004 Donruss World Series or 2005 Zenith.

Would be a little costly, but would occupy some time.

I just did a post about the 94 Sportflics Artist Proof cards I had a stack of, maybe you could collect the regular set from that year, not the Artist Proof cards, because they may not be super expensive anymore, but they would be hard to find and decently expensive to make a set.
