Doctored Cards - coimbre 21 - 02-03-2012

I have my own personal experiences with altered cards, trimmed and retouched by a few dishonest dealers. Others have just flowed into the raw card pool without detection until I spotted them.

I'd like to hear about your own experiences or if you have ever inspected your raw vintage collection for alterations.

Here is the best reference available on the web: http://www.alteredcards.com/

Thanks.

Great site. I've bought some altered cards before and noticed, others I haven't. I traded a '71 Topps Rod Carew on here once and the trader brought the trim to my attention. I sent his end back and he sent me back the Carew. I immediately destroyed it.

Bought a '63 tpps brooks robinson for a good price and it was listed in NRMT condition. I bought it off a reputable auction house which deals strictly in cards and memorabilia. I bought it with the plans to send off for grading. When it came back it was found to be altered (shaved). I emailed the seller and they said to send the cardsaver that had the sale sticker on it with the Lot # for the robinson and he would give me the amount I paid in store credit. I found the card saver and sent it back and they gave me the credit which I put towards another nice vintage card.
