I have a lot of downtime at work because I'm a computer tech for an elementary school, and the bosses wont let me work from home when the majority of my job could be done at home, so i end up just sitting here on beckett or i relentlessly search for steals on ebay for my SFGiants collection, and here are some i came across this week:

and now a question for you all. When I'm buying on ebay i take into account the shipping when i think to myself "this card is $6 shipped im paying half book value, so thats good" or do you guys just take into account the auction price when evaluating what kind of deal you got, and think of the shipping just as something you have to pay to get receive card? Not sure if that made sense, but i hope you guys understand what i mean.

Nice pickups! Yeah, I take in to account the shipping for the full value, unless its a rare card then I don't really look at shipping.

I keep a spreadsheet of what I pay for cards and include shipping in that amount. However, when judging whether or not I got a good deal I compare to other eBay sales and not a comparison to BV. With some stuff you can say "I got a good deal because I got this card for 1/2 BV", but you really didn't get a good deal of others are picking up the same card for 1/3 BV.
And be sure to shop non-eBay sites that do a lot of selling. It's commonplace on many sites to sell for eBay prices less 10%, since the person selling there isn't having to pay eBay.

Nice stuff. I always include shipping into whatever I'm willing to pay for something. When I find something I like, I still check similar items for the lowest price including shipping to see if I'm really getting the best deal.

yeah i dont necessarily say what i quoted, i was just giving an example. I often watch a multiples of the same card, hoping that one of them will end for cheap and hopefully thats the one that i buy. What other sites do you recommend i shop at?
And compared to what the i've seen the other ones end at, i think i get pretty good deals, especially on the Pablo quads.
Thanks to you other two up there and it sounds like everyone includes shipping when they evaluate deals.

I always look at total combined price, with shipping. It's crazy how often someone will charge 3.99 on shipping and then send in a PWE

thats what irritates me the most. Maximum for a single trading card should be $2, maybe $2.50. It doesnt cost $4 to ship a single card.

If i kept a spreadsheet of what i spent on cards id jump off the roof of my house ...once i open the boxes the excitement overrides the guilt and it is forgotten....a spreadsheet would send me over the edge

When you figure in the top loader, the bubble envelope, and the gas/time it takes $3 is fair in my opinion.
