Richard Childress Racing announced on Friday that Hemric will drive the No. 8 Chevrolet next season, as RCR will no longer field the No. 31.

The 27-year-old will continue the long tradition of drivers from Kannapolis, N.C., who have driven the No. 8 on the race track.

Correct...And I read today that that #8 was actually aquired for Ty but when he came to cup earlier than Grampa expected he went to another team..lol

RCR announced that Friday?? I heard that months ago during a race. That's why he ran a couple of Cup races in a #8 car this past season. My local news showed what the car will look like a few days ago.

As for Ty Dillon, he still kinda drives for RCR. Germain Racing gets most of their car equipment and info from RCR.
