MORE UPDATES IN A FEW POSTS DOWN IN THIS THREAD!

I've been kind of mia for the past week or two because I'm trying to iron out some details on a large project I'm working on. I took a break from that, and remembered how cool it was to grab a 1993 Finest Canseco refractor for fairly cheap because the seller spelled his name Conseco. It was one of the big card selling companies around too!

I was very happy with it, but have always wondered what it would look like if there was a pic of him on the gorgeous green refractor in an A's uni, instead of the Rangers.



Then I was wondering what about gold?



I admit, my dream of the card with Jose in an A's jersey didn't get me going. It was my thought of what a 1993 Finest BLUE refractor would look like. Here it is:



How / why they didn't do the gold and blue (and others ... red? pink? purple? mustachioed?) is beyond me, but I'm glad they are doable. The 1993 Finest set, while the first refractor set made by Topps, is probably my favorite refractor set around - especially in different colors!

The design took probably 2-3 hours to rebuild, and the cards, at this point, probably an hour or so to construct - which is faster than normal. On paper, it ALWAYS looks like it is going to take a lot quicker, but the production always ends up taking 1-3 hours or more, depending upon the how everything is laid out.

In any event, while I do have some tweaks I would like to make, here they are together:

Whoa! Beautiful cards! Im doing 1993 Refractor set myself. I'm at 109 out of 199 now. Been doing this for 3/4 years without any rush. I normally pick up 2 cards per month. I have another important focus to worry. I grew up always love this set.

I ll pay you 20 dollars if you could design me 1993 Topps Finest Refractor of Curtis Pride, pretty please

Nicely done. It amazes me how refractory-real they look. Then again I get amazed that my fingertips wrinkle after soaking in a long bath.

So, I redid some and added more ...

First, my son went into my office with me yesterday evening while my wifey was gone. He has been itching to make some cards, so we made this for him:



It is just a base card, not a refractor, because we didn't have time. (MUCH easier to make a base card, instead of a refractor).

The others ... after TONS of tries are below. I enlarged the pic, and put an autograph box for later!

SUPERFRACTOR!!!! WOWZERS!!!!

Finally, the (93) finest rainbow in all the land ....

If you can't obtain the rainbow . . . then make your own damn rainbow. Gotta love the strategy. Creative Genius.

I think Topps just found them their next card designer. Those are sick looking. No idea how you did it but I love those.

I have Steve Finley and Pete Harnisch if you need them for your set.

So are those actually just like the real deal? How do you get the refractor-ness on there; printed or a film?
