I feel I'm relatively knowledgable regarding Pierce rookie year cards, however I still miss some things as I was nog collecting at the time these cards were live. Perhaps I'm missing something here? The other 2499 cards in this print run are 3-15 dollar cards depending on the raw condition. Maybe they would gain a premium if one was graded 9.5 or 10 based on the numerous surface and edge issues with these cards. So, any idea what is being talked about by calling this the iconic 888 in reference to the serial number?

LOL, I don't remember anything about a mysterious #0888. Not to say there wasn't something but I don't think there is anything that could make it mysterious or rare enough to be worth that much lol...... who knows.
The serial number 0888 is about as iconic as the supper that I ate last night....whatever I had.
that sounds to me like some eBay BS....
I message the seller. The response... "888 is a cryptic number, google it". I believe it is referencing the alignment of the number 8 with God similar to 6 with Satan, but I'm not sure. Either way I wish he would accept my offer, I need a card that may have some mystical powers to it!
From Wiki:

In Christian numerology, the number 888 represents Jesus, or sometimes more specifically Christ the Redeemer. This representation may be justified either through gematria, by counting the letter values of the Greek transliteration of Jesus' name,[11] or as an opposing value to 666, the number of the beast.[12]
In Chinese numerology, 888 has a different meaning, triple fortune, a strengthening of the meaning of the digit 8.[13] For this reason, addresses and phone numbers containing the digit sequence 888 are considered particularly lucky, and may command a premium because of it.[14]

I better look through all my serial numbered cards I had no idea I may be sitting on a gold mine...
