An elderly gentleman in my neighborhood passed away and I got his baseball card collection ... it seems to be close to 10,000 cards. I know nothing about baseball cards Sad I'm sorting them alphabetically by player name but am now wondering if more collectors would want to peruse them by team, year, or card company. Any suggestions?

Thanks!
Nancy
Probably sort them by year. Go to the Baseball Hall of Fame website for a list of Hall of Famers and see if you have any of those players.
give me all the hamilton, pence, ortiz lol
Congrats....show us some scans. If your being truthful....I suspect you may have something there. What years are the cards?

Thank you, I will do that!

I will be happy to post some pics as soon as I figure out how to do that. They are various years, from the 80's to the late 90's (also football, basketball, hockey and NASCAR). I have only just begun sorting them and am just in the middle of the B's.

I can recognize some of the names ... Ricky Henderson, Derek Jeter, Deion Sanders, Cal Ripken, Mark McGwire, Brian Jordan, Barry Bonds, Wade Boggs, Ken Griffey, Alomar ...

Thanks for responding to my post!
ouch you are in trouble if they are from those years
I think anything before say 1985 you would want to sort by year but anything after that you would probably want to sort by player. Since the sets from the mid 80's to the 90's have very little value, player lots are probably the best way to go.
I'd be interested in Griffeys if you have some pictures of the cards.

Yeah, I would probably just donate them to a hospital or something. Check for star players first but it doesn't look good as far as value goes.
If they are all from the mid 80s - mid 90s, you won't be looking at much value. There are a few key cards in those years but for the most part they are only worth pennies each. It's pretty hard to move cards from those years.
