i just bought a display from a buddy that just closed his lcs and was wondering about the lights if it a good idea to uses them or not? its going in my basement if that helps? any help is welcome!!!

Yes, you can turn the lights on in your basement.
Man caves have no lights.
Onto a real answer. If you thinking of tiny lamps inside the case. I would not use them. Light and heat from them could damage your cards.
I'm assuming he's talking about the big glass display cases they normally have in card shops. You know the ones that are about the size of a bedroom dresser, normally having two to three levels of display. They normally have ultraviolet light beams running through the top of them.
But I wouldn't turn on the ones in the case.
I think light in the room would be enough
