It is mentioned in another thread but i wanted to give this it's due.

Several years ago my father starting on a mission to get every Topps set back to 1952, and he just finished. He also picked up the '51 red and blue backs.

That is a total of 45,174 cards in all. This includes every traded and update set as well.

It includes rookies of over 50 HOFers.

Here is a link to a sample page of cards from every single set.

Here is a little more about the set including a few pictures of how it is displayed. Each set has it's own binder.

It's pretty cool to be able to go open up a binder and check out any set you like.

Not wanting to put cards like the '52 mantle in a binder he made color copies of the front and back of the better cards to put in the binder. The actual cards are locked away for safety.

That's really cool. I just came across a thread about this the other day that had a link to your website. What's your dad got his eyes on now? (My suggestion: auto of each HOF player)
Thanks for the post. I like showing my wife stuff like this....shows the fun part of the hobby, she doesn't collect but even appreciates this type of stuff.
he bought all the traded sets as well?
Wow that is really cool. What an accomplishment. Thanks for sharing.

I suggested doing all Topps football but i think he is done with major collecting projects for a while.
are the older sets all in a certain grade level or just any card he could find?

He shot for around Vg to Ex on the older stuff. For the '52 high numbers he went lower on some just because of cost. Most of the good cards from the mid '50s-mid '60s are graded around 3-4, some higher. It all depended. Newer stuff, '70s on, is all pretty close to mint.

His '52 Mantle is just authenticated. It showed signs of trimming along the top so it wasn't gradeable. It would have been a 2 maybe otherwise. Here it is.

I also had fun with it and did some side by sides.
