I am trying to figure out the difference between these 3 cards:

1998-99 UD3 #46 Patrick Roy TR
1998-99 UD3 #106 Patrick Roy TF
1998-99 UD3 #166 Patrick Roy TE

I have traded for all of them and ended up with the same card all three times.

The numbering on the back of the card I have 3 of is Technology FX46 Set 106 Subset TS46.

Any help would be great.

Scott

This is What card #46 looks like -- foil finish

This is what card #166 looks like other -- has an embossed feel to it also a lot more rarer than the other 2. this is also the die cut version not the regular one.

Hope that all helps.
Ok thanks, so I can assume that the subset number is the card number then?

On the back of the card it says card #46, 106, 166 which is the set number and the subset number--#46 is the number within that particular subset such as the foil versions, the black diamond type version and the embossed version. So the first of the #'s is the set number.
I love the Einstein like knowledge base on this forum. Ask a question and someone knows the answer. Sweet!
sorry I didn't get to this sooner... wife is having surgery today.. been a busy few days for me with her in the hospital and only me to take care of the baby..

anyway.. I honestly never paid much attention to what the back of the card says as far as the card number. This UD3 set was split between stars (Three Stars) and rookies/prospects (New Era). Each 'group' had three different subsets; rainbow (refractor finish), effects (foil finish), embossed (glossy finish). The coding, as I understand it, is what hckydv7said - so, using your example: FX46 Set 106 Subset TS46 - FX should correspond to the Effects subset, and TS should correspond to the Three Stars group.

Also, if I remember correctly, the value scales from Rainbow to Effects to Embossed, and in the Die-Cuts it goes Effects (#ed/1000) to Embossed (New Era #ed/200, Three Stars #ed/100) to Rainbow (New Era #ed/50, Three Stars #1/1)
Thanks guys, so it looks like I have 3 versions of card 106....2 are FT if anyone needs them. lol
