You probably seen my post about the unknown 1990 UD 20th Anniversary Buyback set that I picked over the weekend.
In that same haul I picked the remaining scraps of the 2008 UD Premier Jeff Kent Bat Barrell card. Card #PBB-JK. The card is #/5, pretty rare.
If anyone has this card, I really want to make a deal with you.
I have to wonder if the garage sale was from a person who used to work for Upper Deck. That would make me think that the 1990 BuyBack set might have been an employee gift. I know Upper Deck has done special cards for employees only, so it wouldn't surprise me. Did you ask the seller where he got the bat?
The guy was pretty busy with his sale, I didn't really get the chance to have a conversation with him, but I guess it would make sense if he was an employee, UD's home base is just up the road in Carlsbad.
I obtain the majority of my collection from estate/garage/yard sales.
Sounds to me like this stuff was "back doored' by a disgruntled former/current Upper Deck employee.
Absolutely no way is going to let a bag of bat pieces get out of their hands knowingly because of potential legal problems.
