So here is the deal sold a card on that OTHER site on the 20th of December Delivered on the 23rd all shipping done through PayPal. Buyer contacted me today asking where their card was and I politely explained to them it was paid for on the 20th and delivered on the 23rd.

Their PayPal account is verified and confirmed shipping address, so technically I should be protected under the seller protection thru PayPal. I do keep all my PayPal emails including payments and shipping details just for this reason.

They replied back with:
I'll check again but I have gotten everything else except that card...
I'll get back to you.....
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly

And I replied back with this:
Your very welcome I also noticed you purchased a lot of cards during that time period so you may have misplaced it but I held up my end of the sales agreement, it was paid for on the 20th and delivered in 3 days so once it shows delivered it is out of my hands. You may want to talk to your postal carrier if for some reason you have not found it

Have I done everything thing to protect myself? Will I get a negative feedback if they file a claim and PayPal rules in my favor or will they rule in my favor? I do not feel I should be out 160.00 for something out of my control.

Sorry for the book any and all input is welcome.
If you do not have signature confirmation, they will rule in the favor of the buyer. I have had items showing "Delivered" through DC and never received in my locked mail box. The PO tracked them afterwards to weird addresses in the area, never mine.
I bet everything will be ok.
I'd say if the card is on record as being delivered to the buyer's Paypal shipping address then you should be covered. Be curious to know how it turns out.
I think if it is under $250 you will be ok from a liability standpoint as long as you don't have a track record of similar instances. I believe anything over $250 requires a signature. If the guy really didn't get it then you will probably get a Negative. Did you offer insurance? If you offered insurance he chose the cheaper method. Inform him as nicely as possible and bad mouth the post office so he turns his frustrations on them and not you.
I always do free shipping and only do insurance on 250 or higher out of my pocket but maybe I will reconsider that after this issue. This would be the 1st claim in 8 years and after 2000+ feedbacks this will be my 1st negative in probably 4-5 years. I understand you cant make everyone happy but I actually try to.
Anything $100 or more should have tracking, insurance AND even signature confirmation these days!!! Way too many scammers out there these days... And paypal/eBay almost ALWAYS side with the buyer...

I agree, and rethinking if the buyer paid with a CC then he can just dispute the transaction with his CC company which will bypass whatever ebay and paypal want to do.

I live by this, i don't care what the extra cost is. Been burned too many times in person to be careless online with people i don't even know. I will cover my own butt with insurance on anything of reasonable value and not depend on ebay for jack squat when it comes to selling. Just one or two screw ups or scam artists will end up costing more in the long run then a few extra shipping fees in my mind.

Getting a little ahead of yourself here son, if the buyer does in fact buy a lot of cards, and has a good track record, then your more than likely not going to get a neg or a neutral.

Just keep up the communication with him, and be polite, ask him to wait 10 more days, as the mail has been slow and busy for the past month due to the holidays, and if he still hasn't received it, then ask him if he would like to pick out another card in the same BV range as the one he bought.

As long as your polite, keep in communication and try to work with him to get things taken care of, I am sure that your not going to get a neg or neutral.

Oh, and a piece of advice, never say or think something bad is going to happen, because then it usually does, keep thinking positive, and 95% of the time things turn out positive.
