Beckett Message Boards

Did anyone on here participate in this or pull one of the cards in packs, were the boards going crazy over it, etc? I'd love to hear stories on this considering it gave a big boost to the baseball card hobby when it came out.

I have over 1,000 cards of 2006 Topps that I pulled from individual packs trying to find one of those alex gordon cards!!! absolute madness!!

When I worked at a card shop in Portland we had a young man about 11 years old come in one day. He had bought a pack at K-Mart and asked us if it was normal to get four of the same card in one pack. His quadruple was the Alex Gordon. I have a picture of him somewhere on my older computer holding all of them.

I remember they were in certain blasters at Wal-Mart & K-Mart. I was driving from Phoenix back to Spokane that summer and looked for every Wal-Mart on the way home! Never did find one but had a ton of cards by the time I got home!

This came from a dealer on eBay I bought a Phil Rizzuto Bat card from.. ". I know a guy who has over 100 of the 2006 Topps Alex Gordon Full rookie cards- a back door deal as well"

I wasn't collecting back then and only knew because it was on TV. Keith Olbermann maybe?

Wow, I never heard of this before.

I heard of it when I bought an 06 factory set and noticed a card was missing.

I was only into nba cards at all at the time so I didnt know anything about this until today. I seen threads about it before but I didnt know the whole story.. i figured it was pretty much a todd van popple or brien taylor type deal.
