Issued by the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio and the Franklin Mint, this collection of 50-coins honors inducted players and coaches chosen by the Hall's Selection Committee. The larger coins were released by subsciption over the course of three years. The year of issue can be found on the serrated edge of the coin in very fine print. Reported mintage figures were 1,946 silver coins and 1,802 bronze coins with each coin containing 1-ounce of metal. The fronts feature a double image: a large portrait and an action scene. The unnumbered backs carry the Hall of Fame Logo, the player's name, position and a summary of his accomplishments. Each set came with a colorful album with a black-and-white action pencil drawing and a biography for each player. Another cardboard "mount" album was issued for use in housing the larger coin set. In 1976, the set was re-released in miniature form (roughly 1/2" diameter) as a complete set. These "minis" were issued sealed on a backer board and came with a jewelry style case to house the coins.
