This set of 40-crude drawings features members of the Buffalo Bills and were produced in a variety of versions and variations, but not all players have been verified for all versions. These "cards" are actually either blankbacked cardboard cut-outs from the sides of milk cartons or actual cap liners originally inserted into milk bottles. The bottle cap liners were produced with or without a small pull-out tab on the fronts and include the Jones-Rich logo on the backs. The flat (non-tab) version of the bottle caps liners were also produced in two versions with one being printed with a slightly larger player name printed on the front and larger company logo printed on the back. It is not yet known which players appeared in the large versus small print or the flat versus tab cap version. The milk carton version was produced in both a red and black ink variety with a further slight difference being found in the red ink variety (some can be found with a red ink circle around the player image along with the yellow ink dotted line). Most, if not all, of the players appear to be available in both varieties as well as both milk cap versions. The black ink carton variety seems to be very difficult to find. These circular cards measure approximately 1" in diameter and are frequently found miscut, i.e., off-centered. A display sheet that featured Bill's owner, Ralph Wilson, and Head Coach, Lou Saban, was also produced to house some of the caps and liners. Collectors at the time were challenged to complete a line-up of the 1963 Bills team, attach the caps and liners to the sheet and mail it in for a chance to win tickets to a Bill's game. The ACC catalog designation for this set is F118-1. [Collapse]
