These cars were produced to appease those collectors who wanted an upgraded production die cast without the upgrade price. The cars themselves appear to have similar production qualities as the Collection cars, but were priced much lower intially and were packaged in black window boxes. Although the box does not include the "Select" name, this series in black boxes is considered the first of the new Select line by Revell.
