Randomly inserted into 1 in every 12 packs, cards from this 126 card set parallel cards 19-144 from the basic Topps Gallery issue. Each Player's Private Issue card is marked with a special holoraphic silver foil stamp on front, differentiating them from their regular-issue counterparts. According to Topps media literature, half of the cards printed were sent to the actual NBA players featured in the set and the rest were seeded into packs. Quite a hullabaloo was made over the discovery that Topps had never released the first 18 cards in this set (the Masters subset) due to an unannounced production flaw at the printing plant. For many months, it was believed that Private Issue parallels existed for these first eighteen cards (as was stated on Topps media literature) but the cards were simply not turning up on the open market as wholesale dealer buy offers skyrocketed. Topps made good on these 18 cards the following year by producing them and inserting them into series two hobby packs of 1996-97 Stadium Club.
