Produced by Upper Deck, this 103-card set was issued for McDonald's NBA Fantasy promotion, which began on March 5, 1993 and continued while supplies lasted. Three-card foil packs were available at participating McDonald's restaurants free with the purchase of an Extra Value Meal, or for 59 cents with the purchase of any other menu item. Each three-card pack contained either two player cards and an instant-win NBA fantasy card, or simply three player cards. In the Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Orlando, and Los Angeles areas, packs featured one special regional player card from the home team. A pack in these areas contained two regular player cards and a local team player card. In addition to meeting Michael Jordan and serving as an honorary ballperson at the 1994 NBA All-Star Game in Minneapolis, many winners received a fantasy NBA contract, special momento jersey, and one-day NBA salary. Over one million other prizes were also available. The cards measure the standard size (2 1/2" by 3 1/2"). The fronts display color action player photos with white borders. The player's name and team name appear in team color-coded bars at the bottom of the picture that intersect a basketball icon that carries the team logo. The Future Force cards, showcasing top rookies, have a special emblem in the upper left corner and the player's name and position on a gray bar. The backs have a second color photo as well as biography and statistics. The Upper Deck foil emblem on the backs takes the shape of the McDonald's golden arches. The cards are numbered on the back and arranged alphabetically according to team names. The set is divided into established NBA stars (P1-P42) and a Future Force subset (P43-P50). The team sets are numbered within themselves and are prefixed with letter abbreviations for the city. A Michael Jordan Hologram was also randomly inserted into all forms of the foil packs. Also, there were some factory sets (master sets containing everything) that were made available for the winner redemption prizes. [Collapse]
